I finished this masterpiece in a week! Can you believe that?
Anyways...here's the story...
After the events of SA2, Rouge finds Shadow somewhere deep in Eggman's underground base. She wants to initiate him into G.U.N. but when he awakens, there's something strange about him. Next thing you know...Shadow is killing everyone worldwide and is wanted for mass murder. Omega is awakened and immediately senses danger. One of the people killed on his spree is Silver, who was warned with very little detail about this event. Mephiles told Silver the world would be saved if Shadow was killed. Silver's attempt to stop Shadow failed miserably and resulted in his death. Suddenly...Shadow has a flashback of how he accidentally kills Maria, which somehow triggers an even darker side of Shadow. Rouge finds his behavior strange and sends a Rouge android as well as Omega to investigate. When the Rouge android began collecting information about Shadow, it is destroyed and Shadow moves on continuing his killing spree. Amy hears about this and tries to snap Shadow out of it. What has happened to Shadow...? Turns out Mephiles possessed him...so Amy somehow reminded Shadow of Maria and he tries to regain control. After his attempt, he faints being completely exhausted. When he wakes up, he loses control again and is off for his next victim, Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic tries to snap him out of it, but Sonic was killed unsparringly. Three weeks later, Rouge goes to where she finds Shadow and finds him sleeping in the capsule he was recently released from. She turns on her scanner and finds out what's wrong with Shadow. Shadow awakens once again and Rouge quickly finds cover. Shadow wants answers so he goes to Dr. Eggman and tries to talk to him. Eggman isn't giving him straight answers. Shadow gets impatient with him and Mephiles takes control. Mephiles sees Eggman as a threat in his plan to use Shadow so he kills him as well. Then Shadow has another flashback of when he promises Maria to protect the humans. His promise as broken when Mephiles took complete control over Shadow. Mephiles kills everyone in sight, but what's this...? Shadow refuses to give up, so he finds out how to eject Mephiles from his body and fights him. Unfortunately, Shadow is too weak and can't do it alone. Mephiles spares him for some reason and runs off. Shadow, Rouge, and Omega later find him in a pyramid beholding the wonder of the Chaos Emerald he has recently acquired. Mephiles defeats all three of them and Shadow uses his last resort. He takes off his rings and clears the path, swiftly defeating Mephiles with a huge overflow of power.
Being completely exhausted from the battle, Shadow puts his rings back on and tries to get the Chaos Emerald Mephiles acquired. A blinding light appears and Mephiles's plan succeeds. He becomes on with Iblis and has to stop Solaris on his own. He couldn't defeat him so he activates the Eclipse Cannon and uses Chaos Control to warp Solaris in front of it. Unable to take the blast, Solaris is destroyed. But what has happened to Shadow? Shadow, drained of all power tries to think of a way he could've prevented this event.
Shadow only thinks of one way to solve this issue. He makes the ultimate sacrifice and is finally at eternal peace with Maria.
